Indications/Uses

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Known or suspected genetic susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia.
Special Precautions
Hypotension & resp depression increase as anesth is deepened. Monitor & sustain urine flow. Renal insufficiency (base line serum creatinine >133 micromol/L). May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Dose-dependent cardio-resp depression; nausea, vomiting; agitation in childn; increased cough, hypotension; bradycardia.
Drug Interactions
Potentiates the action of nondepolarizing muscle relaxants. May affect sensitization of the myocardium to the arrhythmogenic effect of exogenously administered adrenaline. Increased metabolism w/ CYP2E1 inducers (INH & alcohol).
